As a therapist in Texas myself, I believe that being informed about the condition is key to igniting this understanding. Thus, we at True Narra Counseling, are providing you with a briefer on the condition and the factors that may contribute to developing the condition.

So, to begin, what is a panic attack?

A panic attack is a sudden wave of fear or discomfort or a sense of control even without a clear danger or trigger. Anyone can experience a panic attack, however, not all those who experience it go on to develop panic disorder.

Signs of a panic attack include:

  • Chest pain or a choking or smothering sensation.
  • Feeling like you’re going to die.
  • Intense feeling of terror.
  • Nausea, racing heart, sweating.
  • Tingling or numbness in fingers or toes.

There is no one strict answer to this, but experts say that you are at risk for developing the condition if you have a family history of panic attacks, a mental health issue, or a substance abuse problem.

Fortunately, there are tried-and-tested ways to manage or treat a panic attack, the most effective combination being psychotherapy in Frisco, Texas, or elsewhere, and medication.
